very pleased 2010-06-08 |

| I am very pleased overall with these cards. I have only used the bacteriology section so far, but for the most part they correlate very well with my class information. And if there is something they left out, the cards are big enough to add it in. I think they will come in handy when I study for the boards next year. |
Not really "flash cards" 2010-05-30 |
| By AnonymousMed |
When I think of "flash cards" I think on one side there is a word, or a question, and I've got to figure out what is on the other side. I had bought these flash cards thinking there would be a clinical scenario on one side, with the bug on the other side with some important pertinent information.
Instead, the bug's name was on BOTH sides (precluding you from guessing if you wanted to quiz yourself). This is essentially a review book that was placed on nice flash cards. These are NOT good for review, but might be good if you are first learning the material. Some of the flow charts are nice, but nothing you can't find in another review book.
This is not a good resource if you just read the Micro section in First Aid and you want to see how much you've retained. I would not suggest these for USMLE Step 1 Studying. |
These are awesome! 2010-05-25 |

| Microcards were recommended to me by a classmate, and I have to say, they're amazing! I was skeptical because so many of my classmates loved Micro Made Simple - which I absolutely hated. MMS is way too wordy, has too many overly complicated (in my oppinion) pictures and mneumonics. Microcards are the complete opposite. They've boiled down all the major points about each bug to fit onto the back of a flash card and even include the treatment for each. For me, it's been easier to memorize 1 or 2 drugs for each bug, rather than every single bug that every drug treats. Each card also gives a sample clinical scenario and helpful study tips. They're great to use along with First Aid and for USMLE! Wish I had found these last year during my micro block. |
Ehh... 2010-01-27 |

| I have many sets of flash cards for Medical school. The Lange series by McGraw Hill are by far my favorite. These are ok. Better than most, but not the best. The set-up and organization of the cards is my biggest complaint. They just seem very disorganized. I'd rather have 1 card that lists all the info needed for a single organism. this set jumps around and organizes the cards by facts or topic, not organisms. Could work for some, but I didn't use them as much as I hoped. |
Flashcards? 2009-11-15 |

These cards are well put together and are loaded with information (with hopefully enough space to add to because they can never have everything you want to on a card), but there is too much on each card to really use as flash cards. They are more like a book in the form of a set of cards.
Use Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple! It a great book to learn this material with!
